Stakeholder mapping

Stakeholder mapping

Stakeholder mapping is the visual diagram of all stakeholder of a product, project or idea. By putting all stakeholder in 1 view allows everyone to see all party involve, the connection and identify the main influencer.

When I use this?

I use this method when I am in project with many party involve. This method provide a guide to understand everyone pain, gain, role, responsibility and level of influence especially in decision making.

How

  1. Brainstorming
List everyone involve is the project/product/idea. This should include everyone  who may not actively involve but still important enough to keep in the loop.
  2. Categorize
Group the stakeholders according to the key criteria with which you will be managing them during the project. Some of those criteria may include interest, influence, financial stake, emotional stake and etc.

  3. Prioritise
Prioritise the stakeholders.  Key stakeholders – start talking to them early in the project. There are different ways you can prioritise the stakeholders.

Below is one example of mapping and prioritise the stakeholders
